World Gump Licence (WGL), version 1.0
Copyright (c) 2026 The Open Gump Foundation and the Gumpworks contributors.
This licence covers the software, documentation, and assets that the Open Gump Foundation publishes under it. It is our own licence. It is not a rebrand of someone else's licence, and it is not legal advice.
1. Definitions
- "Work" means the software, documentation, or asset distributed under this licence.
- "You" means the person or organisation exercising rights under this licence.
- "Source" means the preferred form of the Work for making modifications: source code, markdown, configuration, and build scripts.
- "Covered Work" means the Work or any work based on the Work.
- "Distribute" means to share, publish, sublicense, or make the Work available to anyone else.
2. Grant of rights
You may use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, and sell copies of the Work, provided you comply with this licence.
You may use the Work commercially. You may run it on your own hardware. You may build a product on top of it. You do not need to ask permission.
3. Conditions
If you distribute the Work or a Covered Work, you must:
- Keep the notice. Include this licence and the copyright notice with the distribution.
- Mark changes. State clearly what you changed, and when.
- Provide the Source. If you distribute a Covered Work in binary or hosted form, make the corresponding Source available under this licence.
- Keep it open. If you distribute a Covered Work, the Covered Work as a whole is licensed under this licence. You may add terms for your own additions, but you may not add terms that restrict the rights this licence grants in the Work.
- Do not misrepresent the origin. Do not claim that the Work was written by you if it was not, and do not remove attribution notices.
4. Patent grant
Each contributor grants you a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free patent licence to make, use, sell, offer for sale, import, and otherwise run the Work, where that licence is necessary to use the Work as distributed.
If you initiate patent litigation alleging that the Work infringes a patent, this patent grant ends for you on the date the claim is filed.
5. Trademarks
This licence does not grant permission to use the trade names, trademarks, service marks, or product names of the Open Gump Foundation or Gumpworks, except as required to describe the origin of the Work.
You may say that your product "uses GAI" or "is built on GAUTH". You may not say that your product "is GAI" or "is GAUTH" if it is a fork or a derivative.
6. Contributions
Unless you state otherwise, any contribution you intentionally submit for inclusion in the Work is licensed under this licence, with no additional terms.
7. Disclaimer of warranty
The Work is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
The authors and contributors do not warrant that the Work will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
8. Limitation of liability
In no event shall the authors, contributors, or the Open Gump Foundation be liable for any claim, damages, or other liability, whether in an action of contract, tort, or otherwise, arising from, out of, or in connection with the Work or the use of the Work.
9. Termination
Your rights under this licence terminate automatically if you breach it. If you cure the breach within 30 days of becoming aware of it, your rights are reinstated.
The Open Gump Foundation may publish a new version of this licence. You may choose to use the Work under the version you received it under, or under any later version.
10. Acceptance
By using, copying, modifying, or distributing the Work, you accept this licence.
11. How to apply
